Purpose

This is an entry-level qualification for those: 

  • currently engaged in the Hospitality industry; or 
  • entering a career in the Hospitality industry.    

The aim of the qualification is to provide a pre-employment qualification for people who are entering the hospitality industry in a range of basic positions. This qualification is to provide for those individuals who are interested in entering the hospitality industry, a credential that will support their future employment opportunities to work, under supervision, across the different hospitality career pathways.

Delivery mode:

Blended Delivery (Suva | Lautoka | Nadi)

This qualification will be provided by face-to-face training sessions and online live webinar training via a web-hosted online training service (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Google MEET and GoToMeeting); however, in any special circumstances, the mode of delivery can be adjusted reasonably and fair to the learner cohorts.

Assessment:

Assessments will take the form of written tasks including workbook, quiz, reflective journal, report writing, and case studies and practical tasks including role play, presentation, group discussions, observation, projects and hands on practical lab activities in a simulated work environment. Supplementary evidence will be gathered if required from the course workbook.

  • The 1st study period: from February to June 
  • The 2nd study period: from August to December

Entry Requirements

A pre-requisite for entry into this qualification will be those who: 

  • hold a minimum of Year 11 pass with Math and English; or 
  • are able to demonstrate some technical skills and competencies with basic literacy and numeracy in hospitality. 

RPL candidates

Prior to commencing the RPL process, RPL candidates are required to have relevant work experiences and/or any other evidence to match with the training package requirements.

The mode of delivery of RPL candidates depends on the process and outcome of the RPL. The candidates can refer to the process of RPL from the Recognition of prior learning (RPL) Information Kit – RPL Kit and RPL policy.

This means that you are not left to study on your own, rather you are participating online together with your trainer and classmates in the same way you would be if you were physically in the classroom.

Our qualified trainers bring our classes directly to you, so you can access high quality education in the comfort of your own home! Whether you are in Fiji or in Pacific or beyond, you can join our Online Orientation and attend Online Classes via our Live Stream Video Conferencing. Please note: It is important that your trainers monitor Online attendance in order to maintain a satisfactory course attendance.

Our Online Live Stream Video Conferencing is a virtual classroom with break-out room(s) capability. This interactive technology allows a direct and personal connection between trainers and students. This means students are not left to study on their own, rather they are participating online together with their trainer and classmates in the same way they would be if they were physically in the classroom.

Yes! Our qualified trainers bring our classes directly to your students. This means that students can access high quality virtual education in the comfort of their own home! The livestreaming classes allows students to interact and participate in classes in real-time providing students the opportunity to interact and ask questions anytime. In addition, our trainers will monitor online attendance in order to maintain a satisfactory course attendance.

If students miss the Live Stream Orientation Information Sessions, recordings will be available on our Student and Learning Management systems.

If students miss their Online Classes, the class recordings will be available on our Student and Learning Management systems. Student attendance and academic progress requirements have not changed. This means students learning will not be impacted if they watch the recorded class session, however it is important to note that students’ attendance will be impacted. Our trainers will monitor online attendance in order to maintain a satisfactory course attendance.

All important information will be emailed to the students VIT email account. It is important that students check their student email account regularly.

Students will have access to 24/7 support. Students can register their enquires through our new ticketing system on our website: https://vit/form .

We do not recommend that students defer their studies. By applying for course deferment, students will most likely fall behind on their proposed course progression and will not be able to graduate on time as per the date specified on their eCoE (confirmation of enrolment).


An extended period of study (enrolment) may be inevitable in order to achieve completion of their study. It is important to note that to remain lawful in Australia and continue their extended period of study (enrolment) towards completion of the course, students will be responsible for their own student visa arrangements (extension/application for new student visa). Any expenses, outcomes and risks regarding the extended period of student visa will be the students’ responsibility.


If students still choose to defer their study, they will need to confirm this to us by completing a Deferment Form available on our
website: https://aibtglobal.edu.au/support/student-forms/aibt/. Once completed, this form will need to be emailed to info@vit.ac.fj.
